To open a checking or savings account, you will usually need to deposit $25 to $100.

You will also need to share identification information with the bank or credit union so they can verify your name and address. This identification could be a government issued identification such as a drivers license a Social Security card with a picture ID such as a passport, a Individual Taxpayer ID Number (ITIN), or any other government-issued ID.
